About me…

I am originally from Dyersville, Iowa, but have lived in Edgewood, Iowa for over 30 years. I’m married to Tony and have four daughters: Callie, Lillie, Elsie, Sarah; and one son, Ben. We have four dogs: Lizzie, Vivian, Indi, and Birdie. I went back to school and graduated from Upper Iowa University in my 40’s to be a special education teacher. I earned my Masters in Education in 2017. My first book "The Little Teardrop" was published by Prell Books in 1999.

Things you might not know…

I used to be a Kindermusik teacher, and 

I used to teach piano/guitar/organ lessons.

I coached Individual and Large Group Speech.

I directed 9 musicals.

In 2018, I was awarded Teacher of the Year--I am very proud!

I used to write greeting cards for a living.

I have had over 400 poems published.

My published books: The Little Teardrop and Monster Tools.

I have taught writing seminars and spoke (in rhyme) for the National Writer's Associate in Denver, Colorado, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Northeast Iowa Language Arts Council, and for the Sinipee Writer's Conference.

I have traveled to England, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Greece and Ireland (12 times because my sister lives there ).

I love the outdoors, reading, gardening, music, and listening to old time radio- and writing, of course.
